| Did you know that heating and cooling represents approximately 44% of your total energy usage? That's right; consumers spend approximately 6% to 12% of their gross income paying for residential fuel and energy costs—an amount equal to $100 billion annually. The ENERGY STAR® Residential Heating and Cooling (HVAC) Program is a voluntary labeling program for home heating and cooling systems: furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air conditioners, and thermostats. The goal of all ENERGY STAR programs, is to help consumers reduce their overall energy use by identifying energy-efficient products. EPA estimates that consumers could save approximately 10% to 40% on heating and cooling bills. |
