Retrofitting T-12 fixtures with T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts can save 30% to 40% of their electricity use, depending upon the configuration of the lamps. T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts also offer better color-rendering characteristics, eliminate most light "flicker," and generate less heat than T-12 lamps. The reduction in heat can also provide significant savings in cooling costs.
