Idaho Power is committed to providing information and programs to encourage wise energy use. The report you received is part of an initiative to test whether a personalized report, separate from your power bill, will be useful and informative in helping you manage your electricity use. Each report should help you better understand your energy use and discover opportunities to save.
At the end of a year, you will be asked to participate in a follow-up survey to provide feedback about the value of the reports.
You were selected to receive reports based on historical energy use and energy-savings potential.
Unfortunately, at this time all of our program participants have been selected. If Idaho Power expands the program in the future, your friend/relative etc., may be selected at that time.
Call 1-800-632-6605 and ask to stop receiving reports.

A number of factors contribute to the electricity use in a home:
As an example, two structurally identical homes (built at the same time by the same builders to the same configuration and specifications) can have a 3x difference in energy consumption based on some of the factors outlined above (e.g. thermostat settings, occupancy, appliance use, etc.).
Your home's energy use is compared to more than 100 other homes in your county that have similar characteristics. These characteristics include home type (e.g., manufactured home, single family dwelling), primary heat source and home size, if available.
The number of residents in a home, the behavior of these residents and the existence of supplemental heat sources (e.g. electric heaters or wood fireplaces) can have a large effect on energy consumption.
The breakdown of your electricity use is based on a number of factors, including the changes in your home's electricity consumption as the outside temperature changes.
The calculated estimates of your home's electricity used for loads, such as air conditioning, are intended to provide an approximation of your consumption, and are typically within 10 percent of the actual use.
The accuracy of these calculated estimates could be impacted if your home has extended periods of occupancy change, has large seasonal loads, has seen significant equipment changes (e.g., replacing an electric water heater with a natural gas water heater) or has uncommon loads.
Changes in your consumption may be due to your efforts to lower costs, or it may be due to changes in your environment or household characteristics, such as colder or warmer weather, or a change in the number of household occupants, compared to the same time last year.
