ENERGY STAR® Heating and Cooling
Did you know that heating and cooling
represents approximately 44% of your total energy usage? That's right, consumers
spend approximately 6 to 12% of their gross income paying for residential fuel and utility
costs - an amount equal to $100 billion annually.
The ENERGY STAR Residential Heating and
Cooling (HVAC) Program is a voluntary labeling program
for home heating and cooling systems: furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air
conditioners, and thermostats. The goal, like other ENERGY STAR programs, is to
help consumers reduce their overall energy use by identifying
energy efficient products. EPA estimates that consumers could save approximately
10-40% on heating and cooling bills.
